Guide to OECD International Migration Statistics
INTRODUCTION
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) annually updated International Migration Statistics contain data on foreign and immigrant populations, foreign workers, migration flows and naturalisations for OECD and other countries for a variety of periods from 1980 onwards.

FDI, Private Transfers and Workers Remittances
This table contains statistics presented in millions of US dollars for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), private transfers, and workers remittances for 173 different countries from 1980 onwards.
Population and Labour Force by Duration of Stay
Population, labour force, and employment statistics are presented for 1995, (except for Australia - data from 1996, Canada - 1991, and the United States - 1990). The number of persons for each variable is provided in terms of duration of stay, origin, sex, and age. The countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Swede, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Population and Labour Force by Level of Education
Population, labour force, and employment statistics are presented for 1995 (except for Australia - data from 1996, Canada - 1991, and the United States - 1990). The number of persons for each variable is provided in terms of level of education, origin, sex and age. The countries covered are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Flows of Foreigners by Country of Origin
Data on the inflows and outflow of people to and from OECD Member countries from 1980 onwards are presented in this table. Data are provided for 94 origin countries and the following destination countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
GDP and GDP per capita
Statistics for gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP per capita for 187 different countries from 1980 onwards are presented in this table. Data are provided in millions of constant and current US. dollars and purchasing power parities (PPPs).
Foreign Trade by Partner Country
Statistics on the total import and exports between 64 different countries from 1980 onwards is presented in this table. Data is presented in millions of US dollars.
Employment by Sex and Industry Division
Employment statistics by sex and industry division for 76 different countries for the period 1980-1995 are presented in this table. For each country, the number of employed persons is given by sex, source of the data (survey or official estimates) and by industry division, according to the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Revision 2. Countries covered include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States, plus 47 other non-member countries.
Employment by Industry Division
Employment statistics for immigrants by industry for 1995 are presented in this table (with the exception of Australia - data from 1996 and the US - data from 1990). For each country, the number of employed persons is provided in terms of origin, industry employed within, sex, and age. The countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Naturalisations by Country of Previous Nationality
This table contains the naturalisation statistics for the following OECD Member countries from 1986 onwards: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Data are provided by 87 origin countries.
Employment by Occupation
Employment statistics for immigrants by occupation for 1995 are presented in this table (except for Australia - data from 1996, Canada - 1991, and the United States - 1990). For each country, the number of employed persons is provided in terms of origin, occupation, sex, and age. The countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Official Development Assistance by Partner Country
Statistics from 1990 onwards on Official Development Assistance (ODA) from OECD Member countries to a list of 204 countries are provided in this table. Data are available in millions of US dollars. The OECD donor countries are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Population and Labour Force by Country of Origin
This table contains data for 1995 (except for Australia - data from 1996, Canada - 1991, and the United States - 1990) on immigrant population statistics in the general population, in the labour force, employed, and unemployed. These populations are provided in terms of origin, origin country, sex, and age. Countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Swede, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Population statistics from 1980-1995 are presented for 51 different countries in this table. Data are provided in terms of sex and age. The countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Stocks of Foreign Born Population by Country of Origin
This table contains statistics on stocks of foreign-born population from 1980 onwards. Data are provided by origin, sex, and 107 origin countries. Data are provided for the following destination countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Summary Tables
This summary table contains data for 1980 onwards on the following variables: inflows and outflows of foreigners, asylum seekers, stocks of foreigners and foreign born, and naturalisations. Duration of Unemployment
Unemployment statistics for immigrants for 1995 (except for Australia where data from 1996), is presented in this table. For each country, the number of unemployed persons is provided in terms of origin, duration of unemployment, sex, and age. The countries covered are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
